Airfix WW2 US Paratroops Part 3

Summary

Paint and base Airfix WW2 U.S. Paratroops set A02711V. A quick WIP update Mid January 2023.

The basics:

  1. DONE – Unboxing and admiring
  2. DONE – Prepping figures by quick wash to removed any factory residue and removing mold lines
  3. DONE – Prime in acrylic base coat
  4. WIP – Paint the figures – as of January 2023
  5. Base the figures
  6. Seal the figures
  7. Admire artwork

So here we are in the new year and I have made some progress towards this initial project’s completion.

The devil is in the details as they say. Wait – I gonna look up what that really means…I guess it is true. The details are where I have hit a crossroads with this set (and with future Airfix figures in this scale)

Do I paint every possible detail OR do I just have these as they say “tabletop ready”. Although the sculpts are great for the value of these kits, they are not that crisp enough to be worth the extra effort to paint to fix OR are they?

I was thinking to add mussete bags/backpacks, helmet mounted first aid pouches and grenades (all made from air dry clay) and glued to the models. What do you think?

Any ways…check out them pics and links.

Again, I am using a cork stopper as a model holder with a piece of poster tack – you can find poster tack . You can also re-use the poster tack for the next mini. A color wheel is sometimes useful when doing color paint projects .

Happy crafting, readers!
